According to the firms, the paper bag's innovative closure mechanism, which is sealed with a specific food-contact hot-melt glue and a strengthened bottom patch, enhances hygiene and facilitates opening. Mondi and Fiorini International have previously collaborated on a paper stand-up bag with a window for pasta manufacturer Girolomoni and a paper rice bag for Riseria Vignola Giovanni that is reportedly 100 percent recyclable in waste paper streams, even in countries with the strictest recycling requirements.

Massimiliano Scottà is the regional sales director at Mondi and he emphasizes that this is an excellent example of packaging best practices that maintains materials in circulation and helps to achieve Mondi's MAP2030 sustainability goal of making all of its products reusable, recyclable, or compostable by 2025. Additionally, Pietro Fiorini, who is the sales director of the packaging division at Fiorini International, underlines that the partnership between Fiorini International and Mondi designed the most effective paper option for pasta bags.
