Tihomir Premužak, director of Vetropack Straža d.d. is happy to state that they have successfully finished their fiscal year, both financially and goal-wise. Namely, 98 % of Vetropack’s clients cite them as their main and reliable supplier. According to the Friends of Glass research from our previous edition, 89 % of Croats believe that glass packaging is the most convenient for recycling.
However, we behave the opposite. Our country recycles only 50 % of glass packagings compared to 90 % in Western European countries. “It is obvious that an average customer in Croatia chooses a product based on its price”, states Premužak. Part of the problem is also that many producers launch their products only in one kind of packaging which is usually cheaper and less ecologically acceptable. Vetropack is working on making lighter, more usable bottles which saves raw material, energy and reduces emission of greenhouse gases.
