The extensive research conducted in March 2011 by iCD Research, a British market reseach company, published by Packaging Gateway magazine, shows that the upcoming year could be a rather positive one for the packaging producers and users throughout the World. Namely, during the research of the industrial dynamics, market trends and circumstances, as well as the purchasing policies and strategies of packaging buyers, 59% of companies from all packaging industry sectors have stated that in the next 12 months a bigger income is expected than in the past year. Reasons for this trend can be found in the strong development of the upcoming markets, such as the Indian or Chinese market, the decreasing of global economic instability, and the growth of innovation, productivity and process efficiency. Flexible packaging is expected to be one of the fastest growing sectors precisely because of the consolidation of the industry and the initiatives in the sustainability domain.
